Fourth Project: Consumerism

      The fourth project I had to complete for ART 212 was revolved around either consumerism, capitalism, or mass media. I choose to focus on consumerism and how people buy so much just for most of it be thrown away almost immediately. To convey this I depicted a man being buried in his own trash reaching out for help but it's too late. I main goal for this piece was to make sure all of the trash and labels were rendered well, which I think I accomplished. Working in sections like I normally do helped me with this piece, blocking in main colors and goin back to add detail and logos. Also being able to accomplish the face rendering in the music project also helped me with the face in this one.

Third Project: Music

      The third project I had to complete for ART 212 was revolved around music. For the assignment we had to create a piece that depicted our own music taste. For this piece, instead of creating a collage of many different artists like most people in the class did, I focused on my favorite artist, Rex Orange County, and wanted to depict how his music feels to listeners. Taking key symbols from his music and albums, the DREAM balloons and the sunflowers, I created a safe and calming aesthetic with the singer as the main focal point. I worked in sections similar to how I created my other pieces, this time really focusing on the rendering of the face and flowers, redeeming myself from the second project. Ultimately, this piece made up for my mistakes from the second project and was highly successful.

Second Project: Movies

           The second project I had to create for ART 212 was revolved around movies.  For the assignment, I had to collage together two different movies into one cohesive scene. The two movies I choose were Midsommar and Insidious because they are both horror movies but have very different aesthetics. The demon on the left of the piece is. from Insidious, and the woman with the flower dress and headpiece is from Midsommar. I started the piece by painting the demon and the woman's face. I ultimately struggled with rendering the face because of the harsh shadow on the left side of her face. This I had to keep in mind for future projects. I then finished with blocking in the solid colors of the flowers and then going back in with detail.

First Project: Fashion

      The first project I had to complete for ART 212 was revolved around fashion. The assignment was to create a collage that focused around your fashion taste and style and then paint the collage in only an achromatic color scheme. I used pictures from a Vogue magazine to create my fashion style. It focused on gender and femininity and how clothes don't have a gender and doesn't define whether someone is masculine or  feminine. Anyone should be allowed to wear whatever they'd like and feel comfortable in. The main focal point of the piece is the woman in the center. The "MOVEMENT" lettering down the left side of the piece acts as a barrier so the viewer's eyes don't leave the piece. The objects/lines around the woman's head acts the same way, also creating a halo effect that adds to her presence. Finally the microphone in the corner acts as a way to emphasis the meaning of the piece and its importance. The words projected on her face and body depict ...
